DEMONSTRATION COLLECTION OF FLAX TOOLS
Producing and processing flax requires a great deal of knowledge and skill. A lot of work has already been done before the weaver can start working with the strands of yarn. Texture's rich collection of tools is unique in Belgium and shows the many steps in the production process from plant to fibre.
Are you interested in where things come from, or would you like to try your hand at scutching, braking, swingling or hackling flax or other fibres (hemp, nettles, jute)? Our demonstration collection contains 12 hand tools that can be used for education or for research into historical techniques and crafts. These tools have been carefully selected and are suitable for object handling.
RESERVATIONS
Reserve a flax tool from the demonstration collection by submitting a request HERE. Please state the purpose, the period and the location where you wish to use it (in our workshop or on location). You are responsible for providing the necessary raw materials. Within 7 working days, we will confirm whether you can get started and you will receive the necessary rules.
