Residencies
Every finished textile product is a work of art. It is therefore logical that artists of various kinds are attracted to the material and the creative process. And consequently also to this place. Because at Texture, they can feel, smell and experience textiles and their history at their best. It inspires artists, designers and researchers to set up their studios on our site for short or longer periods. And, inspired by the collection, to share their contemporary view of textiles, specific techniques or related themes with visitors.
Here and now in residence: Linen Stewards
A group of 20 participants is committed to working together on a flax field for a year. Together, these linen stewards, guided by specialists, go through all the steps of the process in an intensive and thorough manner. From flax seed to linen fibre to various end products. We share the field, the work, the profits, the risks, the knowledge, the experience, the harvest and the results. Together, we shape this project. In tune with nature. On our field. All year round.
Meet our STEWARDS
Here and now in residence: Rewilding Materials
From February 2025 to January 2028, landscape architects Steven Heyde and Pieter Veen and product designers Helena De Smet and Tim Duerinck will be working in residence at Texture on Rewilding Materials. In this three-year research project in collaboration with Hogent's Futures Through Design research group, they will explore, together with the Textile Gardeners, the possibilities of fibre plants from regenerative landscapes, with flax as a reference.
