In 2014, actor, singer and presenter Wim Opbrouck designed the 'Tafelgeesten' (Table Spirits), a unique damask tablecloth. In a delicate blue pen drawing, he depicted 11 guests at the end of an exuberant feast. They carry stories that date back to flax processing in the Kortrijk region during the sixteenth century. Their heads are only visible under certain lighting conditions, especially by candlelight.

The world-renowned Verilin weaving mill brought the 11 'spirits' to life on 100% Belgian linen. In 2022, a more robust remake of the double-sided woven tablecloth was released in a powerful Buio colour with a bold fluorescent pink embroidery accent.

HISTORICAL WEAVE

On his mother's side, Wim is descended from the well-known Decavele flax family. He lives in a converted flax shed and still has a root pit in his garden. No wonder he was immediately won over to design an exclusive damask tablecloth for Texture. Centuries ago, the snow-white fabric was already a symbol of luxury and celebration. To this day, star chefs turn to Verilin for damask table linen to complete the culinary experience of their guests.
